One large demanding fortress with an alpine backdrop sets Salzburg apart from other cities, attracting more and more tourists every year. Unfortunately I only had 1 day in Salzburg, but between touring the fortress and eating as many sausages as possible, I really did stay busy. El Yunque is a beautiful lush forest littered with waterfalls, mountains, hiking paths, and secret towers that allow you an amazing view from the top. The neighborhood is a breath of fresh air compared to the more touristy spots of the city. At Al Tranvai, there are no menus. Instead, there is a list of selections to choose from on a chalkboard by the front door. A lot of the food choices are local Florentine fare (the waitress will be happy to explain if you have questions). The restaurant is a small, cozy building with a rustic feel. It’s usually filled with Italian locals, which is a sign that the food is excellent!
Make sure to try the Tiramisu and the house wine!
