My Biggest Travel Mishaps

So, I’ve been thinking about creating this page for some time now. The only thing stopping me was that some of my most loyal readers include:

1. my parents and..

2. my employers (yes I do have a “real” job, and you can read about how I travel with that job here).

Some people say the more you travel, the more experienced you get, and the less mistakes you make. Well, for some that may be true. For me, it’s not. I can’t say that I’m really bothered by it anymore, because let’s face it, bad experiences make better stories.

So here are some of my worst experiences and most unfortunate events on the road that I will be writing more about shortly (mom, dad, you can stop reading now):

  1. The time I woke up a Five Star hotel’s pool furniture in the middle of Bangkok
  2. The time I completely ran out of money in Cuba
  3. The time I got in a car accident in Costa Rica, 20 minutes before I had to be at the airport and nearly missed my flight
  4. The time I had to sleep in my car on the side of the road the night before a 20 mile hike in Norway
  5. The time our apartment didn’t have heat or hot water in Venice
  6. The time we attended Italian Weekend at Oktoberfest late and were practically molested, and also had to stay in the middle of a cornfield.
  7. The time I slept frozen on the ground of the Panama City airport
  8. The time I accidentally went on a date with a 50 year old Italian man
  9. The time we were kidnapped by gangster Italian motorbikers in Greece
  10. The time we got scammed on a Cambodian River Boat by Michael Jackson
