2 Days in Bangkok: All Must Sees and Must Eats in 2 Days

2 days in bangkok: wat arun

Bangkok, like Las Vegas, sounds like a place where you make bad decisions.

Bangkok is a major travel hub for those backpacking or traveling throughout Thailand.  So, chances are,  if you book a trip to Thailand, you will probably spend a few days here.

2 days in Bangkok is enough to get a feel for this busy city and to experience some of the culture it has to offer. So what exactly will you have time for during these 2 days?

-You’ll Have Time to Explore WAT ARUN-

Easily accessed by river boat and outlined in ornate floral patterns of porcelain, Wat Arun is stunning up close. If you don’t have a fear of heights, you can climb up to the top which is not for the fainthearted.

-You’ll Have Time to Get Lost in WAT PHO-

Right across the river and a quick ferry ride from Wat Arun, you can find Wat Pho.  Home of the original Thai Massage and the Reclining Buddha, Wat Pho is one of the largest and oldest wats in Bangkok.

-You’ll have Time to Grab Traditional Thai PAD THAI or CURRY-

From roadside noodle stalls to upscale restaurants, Bangkok has it all. You’ll be surprised how much you can eat in 2 days being surrounded by so much delicious food.

TIP: Thip Samai is supposedly Bangkok’s best Pad Thai (although they have plenty of competition).

-You’ll Have Time to Watch Over the City at SKY BAR-

Stroll over to Sky Bar, the worlds highest open air bar, for some pricey appetizers and cocktails (the view is worth it). Other notable rooftop bars are Moon Bar, River Vibe, Phra Nakorn Bar &  Gallery, Above 11, Amarosa, and Sky Train Jazz Club.

-You’ll Have Time for More than Enough TUK TUK Rides-

Tuk-tuks are my new favorite mode of transportation, I am destined to bring them to the States.  Although fares can be more expensive than taking a taxi, riding in a tuk-tuk is more about the experience and only becomes more fun after having a few drinks.

TIPS: Fares are always negotiable and haggling is a must because the price named by the driver is always a higher rate. Try negotiating 5 – 15 baht off the proposed fare.

-You’ll Have Time to See THE GRAND PALACE During the Day AND at Sunset-

Hop on another ferry and head to the Grand Palace, which was the past residence of the Kings of Thailand. The Golden palace is one of the most incredible buildings I’ve ever seen. You really need to see it with your own eyes.

TIP: If you wait until early evening you can stay to see the palace glow at sunset.

-You’ll Have Time to Eat on the Busy Sidewalk of CHINATOWN-

Chinatown is a colourful, exotic, and chaotic area, packed with market stalls and tables lining the street. Grab a seat at one of the busy outdoor restaurants on the sidewalk for excellent people watching and impressive food.

-You’ll Have Time to Experience Bangkok’s NIGHTLIFE-

From rooftop bars and dinner cruises to lady boy shows and large beat pumping nightclubs, Bangkok has something for everyone. The city is alive 7 days a week and you can easily be dancing until sunrise. Check out Levels, Demo, Slim & Fix, or Ku De Ta.

-You’ll Have Time to Ride a Longtail Down the CHAO PHRAYA RIVER-

On your way to Wat Pho, Wat Arun, or the Golden Temple, you will have to take a ferry (the cheaper option) or a long tail boat (the more fun option). Opt for the longtail at least once to enjoy the bumpy and partially wet ride.
